Testing Services

We work with a wide range of mobility and defence manufacturers, helping them to get their vehicles onto the market. So, join one of our specialist testing teams and you’ll continually be developing your practical, technical and engineering skills, working with a variety of advanced technologies, systems, facilities and mobility products. From our proving ground to our climatic wind tunnels, EMC facilities to autonomous and propulsion systems or dynamics testing. You may even have the chance to contribute to designing and developing new test facilities.

Technician

As a Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our testing process, understanding customer needs and ensuring tests run smoothly. You will prepare the test environment, including making fixtures, building mechanical systems and readying complex test facilities. You’ll also install instrumentation and measurement systems to collect data for analysis. Then, you’ll work with the Test Engineer to run tests, making any modifications along the way. It’s an excellent springboard for developing your career towards becoming a Test Engineer.

Test Engineer

As a Test Engineer, you’ll be liaising with customers to understand their product and what they want to achieve. Working closely with Technicians to make sure tests are set up correctly. Running tests, assessing and understanding the data and identifying any issues. And delivering test reports, then working with the customer to identify next steps. You’ll have plenty of scope to develop your career, either by becoming one of our recognised technical experts, or as a manager. And we’ll support your development with a variety of training opportunities.

Connected Autonomous Vehicles

Join this team and you’ll be specialising in one of the most exciting and advanced areas of mobility. And building valuable product knowledge and skills that will stand you in good stead throughout your career. You could be testing a wide range of complex and innovative technologies. From advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to connected autonomous vehicles (CAV). All to make sure future journeys are safer, cleaner and smarter.

Vehicle Resilience

This team aims to make the vehicles of the future safer, more secure and better connected. Join us and you could be testing vehicles’ connected systems for cybersecurity. You may be testing for electromagnetic resilience and compatibility. Or you might be testing functional safety – assessing the risk of electronic systems malfunctioning or being hacked. And all the time, you’ll be developing your knowledge and ensuring that new vehicles are as resilient as possible.

Propulsion and Electro-mobility

We test a range of propulsion systems, from electric batteries to hydrogen fuel cells. In fact. we’ve been a leader in battery testing for over ten years. Including testing battery resilience to damage, such as fire, crashes or overcharging. Assessing battery capacity to maximise travelling range. Testing plug-in charging systems. And looking at thermal management for battery cooling systems. So, join this team and you’ll be testing at the forefront of our industry.

Powertrain

We’ve worked with vehicle manufacturers around the world for decades to improve powertrain efficiency and emissions. So, you could be involved in engine and chassis testing for a wide range of cars and commercial vehicles. Analysing emissions, using a range of advanced test equipment. Or assessing alternative fuels. Whatever your role, you’ll play a key part in making journeys cleaner, safer and smarter.

Test Services

At every stage of your career, we’ll give you further opportunities to build your skills and continually develop your technical and operational knowledge. You’ll be exposed to different client projects, involved in the commercial process and work with experts from across the HORIBA MIRA business. You’ll have the ability to shape your future with both technical and supervisory career paths available. And you’ll have access to applicable training resources.

Principal Engineer

As a principal engineer, you’ll have expertise in a specific field with a focus on technical leadership and operational performance. You’ll lead local delivery teams. Manage facility operations. And oversee the delivery of complex test activities. All for a range of customers, working in the UK and overseas.

Senior Engineer

Our senior engineers have extensive knowledge of test process and work closely with customers on a range of complex projects. You’ll be involved from the first enquiry, through agreeing specifications and project scoping, to successful delivery and reporting. You’ll also be responsible for developing new test technologies to meet industry needs.

Project Engineer

As an experienced test engineer you’ll lead a variety of small customer test programmes. That means leading and motivating teams of engineers and technicians. Following established test processes. Delivering to budget. And working closely with customers to ensure successful completion

Graduate / Test Engineer

As a test engineer, you will take a role in one of our capability groups, such as Propulsion & Electromobility or Vehicles Attributes, delivering tests under guidance from a senior engineer. You’ll develop your knowledge in the test environment and may rotate through a variety of disciplines before joining a specific team.

Technician

Whether you’re a test or development technician, you’ll contribute to a variety of customer projects. That means you’ll need to combine practical skills and expertise with the ability to work in a team, sometimes alongside customer engineers.

Advanced and Degree Apprentice

As an apprentice you’ll be a full member of the team, learning the job form the ground up and experiencing many aspects of the test environment. You’ll combine working with study, be supported by a mentor and work under direction from an experienced member of the team.
