25th September 2023 - CHARITY FOOTBALL EVENT
HORIBA MIRA and Bosch entered a joint team into a local charity football tournament…
The event which took place in September saw ten teams compete in the inaugural Loros Cup, organised by recruitment agency Euro Projects. The event was held in aid of Loros, who provide free care for terminally ill patients and their families.
Between the fun and excitement on the pitches, participants and their supporters were also treated to pizzas and drinks. The final match finished 1-1 which meant the competition would be settled by a penalty shootout. Euro Projects went on to lift the cup with a 3-2 victory on penalties, providing a dramatic ending to what was a fantastic afternoon.
Aleem Lalji, HORIBA MIRA CAV test principal engineer, said: "There were two groups with five teams in each. The two teams who beat us in our group were the ones that made it to the final. So, we had a tough group but did well.
“The final was great to watch and ended 1-1, so went to penalties. The host team, Euro Projects, ended up winning it and I think they deserved it, as they were very good."
Great fun and good sport were had by all, in what is likely to become an annual event and which raised an incredible £1,420 for the local charity.
Aleem Lalji, adds: "As part of the HORIBA MIRA Sports & Social Club we usually play football every Tuesday. It's for all abilities and just for fun, we set up teams based upon who turns up. Any team members or tenants are all welcome.”
